Adam Parker, Andisiwe Mdluli and Bareera Joosub are pictured during their Science lesson, testing and tasting different foods for starch and glucose.

The pupils did a special test (that scientists use) to see if a food product is a starch or not. It is called the Iodine Starch Test.

Iodine solution is a special solution that is normally a brown liquid. They dropped the iodine solution on the starch and glucose products.

The iodine and starch combine and produce a blue colour. We use this to test whether there is starch in a food product.
